Classroom Spotlight -- Geography

Mrs. Flick’s geography class is this week’s classroom spotlight. Right now they are learning about what exactly geography is. Wacey said, “Geography is the study of the Earth,” and Tosha explained to us that they were also learning about the different types of maps they will have to study in geography this year. They are all very excited to learn more and more about geography!

Geography Class

During the first week of October, Mrs. Flick’s Geography class broke into groups and each group taught a chapter. One group, Tosha, Travis, Paul, and Jesse, taught about the different layers of soil. They made a yummy presentation about the soil horizons. For the parent rock they used m&m’s, for the broken rock they used pudding and m&m’s, for the subsoil they used pudding, and for the topsoil they used Oreos. Everyone had a good time learning and had a yummy snack afterwards.

Nuestras Ofrendas

Nicole - Cousin Jason Fegler, Kailee - Grandma Carol Merchant Grass Nyffler, Leon - John F. Kennedy

Brooke Housh - Bill Housh, Carlyn Ehrman - Francis Ehrman, Nicole Tlustos - Jerry Teahon

The Spanish 2 class just got done creating ofrendas to honor our loved ones that have passed away. Ofrenda means “offering” or “altar” in Spanish and are made for the “Día de los Muertos” or Day of the Dead. People make ofrendas and display them inside their homes or on their patios for people to see. Ofrendas represent loved ones and have many things inside them to represent their life. They could include pictures and objects that represent them and their life.
