Do the Lady Hawks have the power to make it to state again? Some are positive that we do, and some are very skeptical about it. Yet no matter if they do or not, we still love those Lady Hawks!
December was a good month for the Lady Hawks even though they did lose a couple times. Here are the scores from the Lady Hawks games in December. 12/12/09 @ Mullen 45-50 12/29/09 Cody-Kilgore 43-38 12/21/09 Edgemont 54-40 12/22/09 Banner County 52-47 01/05/10 Crawford 65-40
So no matter if you think the ladies will go to state or not you can always come cheer them on anytime, anywhere. Cheer them on to keep them on the right track to State.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the visiting Crawford Rams will now take on the Hay Springs Hawks!” The basketball games started at 5:30 on December 4, the Hay Springs Girls basketball team played Crawford and beat them 55-33. At 7:00 the boys played Crawford and won 55-29. Then on Saturday the boys and girls played Cody-Kilgore and won both at 54-45 and 70-39. With the victories for both the girls and boys the weekend was a very good one for Hay Springs basketball teams. So all in all this was a very good start for both Hay Springs basketball teams.

Panhandle Conference on Monday, December 14, 2009, was the last game of the 2009 junior high girls basketball season. The head coach for their team was Mrs. Mandelko, her assistant was Mrs. Henry, and her helpers were Sydney T. and Blair H. The girls played about 6 games total, which were successful for the girls. Below is a complete list of all of their games played and the outcome of them.
Vs. Gordon/Rushville-35-16 (win) Vs. Sioux Co.-17-28 (lost) Vs. Hemingford-11-32 (lost) Vs. St. Agnes-16-38 (lost) Vs. Crawford-31-21 (lost) Vs. Sioux Co.-34-22 (win) Vs. St. Agnes-16-31 (lost)
I talked to their assistant coach, Amy H., about how their overall season went, and she had a lot of positive things to say about their team. She said that the girls made a huge improvement on their fundamentals over the course of the season, and also believes that their team will be successful next year. This is because there are a lot of girls that will be in 8th grade then, and they will know a lot of things. Amy said that she had an enjoyable time being the assistant coach, and will miss the 8th graders next year! Also she wanted to add that they did a great job on attending all of the 6 a.m. practices! For sure, they had a very successful season!!!
