Chadron Dominates on the Field

The Chadron Cardinals officially started their season Thursday night against the Alliance Bulldogs in Alliance. In the Varsity game, Alliance gave Chadron a scare, scoring a point right in the first inning. Not to worry though the Cards came back to win it 9-3. Chadron had 14 hits in the games coming from 9 different players. The Junior Varsity also pulled off a W last night winning 15-6.

The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Scottsbluff to face the Bearcats.


Scottsbluff Tourney and Alliance Game

This past weekend in Scottsbluff, the Chadron High girl’s softball team played three varsity games on Friday and two on Saturday.

They finished the tournament 4-1 and in second place. Scottsbluff also finished 4-1, but they finished in first place due to defeating Chadron 10-9 on the first game on Friday. Chadron’s wins were against Alliance 11-0, Gothenburg 5-2, Chase County 8-5, and Gering 10-1.

The JV also played three games defeating Scottsbluff's C-team 9 to 3 and
losing to Gering JV 11-1 and to Gothenburg 9 to 8.

Alliance @ Chadron
The Chadron Lady Cardinal’s softball teams were also in action Tuesday night (9/11) with home games against Alliance. The Varsity team didn’t stall, defeating the Bulldogs 8-0 in five innings. The JV beat Alliance earlier in the evening, 10-5. The Varsity will be in action Friday at Imperial when they take on Chase County and then Saturday at the North Platte Softball Classic Tournament. First pitch is at 4pm in Imperial, and the North Platte Tournament starts at 11 a.m.

Softball Girls Play at Scottsbluff

The Lady Cardinals traveled to Scottsbluff Tuesday night to take on the lady bearcats. The game was close but the cardinals couldn’t pull of the win, losing 3-4. Brooke Housh led the Lady Cardinal hitters with two singles. The Lady Cardinals will go play in McCook Friday playing a three game tournament. They will face McCook at 9 a.m. Saturday Morning.

Chadron 5 -- Gering 4


The Chadron Softball team took on Gering in a JV, Varsity double header. Our team struck first with a run in the 2nd and 3rd before the Bulldogs evened it up with 2 runs in the 4th. Chadron took the lead back in the Bottom of the 4th with two more runs, making it 4-2. Then, in the next inning, Gering put two more runs across the plate to tie it up again, 4-4. Then in the bottom of the 6th, Nikki R. hit the winning game point making the score 5-4. Thus making their season 3-3. The JV also did very well with their winning score of 5-4.

Look forward to their next couple games this weekend in the Scottsbluff tournament. Then on Tuesday you can catch them in Chadron against Alliance.

Cards Doing Well


The Lady Cards split with the Gothenburg Lady Swedes losing game one 7 to 2 and winning game two by a score of 9 to 6, Thursday night. In a marathon day, Saturday, the Lady Cardinals finished Western Conference runner-up to Scottsbluff. They played five games in the heat finishing with 3 wins and 2 losses in the double elimination tournament. Last night was Parent’s night with the Cards taking on Scottsbluff in Chadron. The Cards pulled off the W with a final score of 5-2.

Cardinal Softball Wraps Up

This week the softball team was busy with games on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

On Tuesday they faced Scottsbluff at home, winning it 5-3. On Thursday the Cards set out on a road trip for Valentine to play a double-header against O’Neill, who is ranked #5 in class C. Chadron lost the first game in 8 innings with a score of 5-6. The 2nd game, Chadron fired back and won 12-3, giving O’Neill their 2nd loss of the season. On Friday, they were back at home to face Chase Co. Chadron won 9-4. Saturday the Cards traveled to Alliance for the Alliance Tourney. Chadron beat Gering 3-2 in a close contest. Next, Chadron played Alliance. Chadron won 18-4. Next, the Cards took on Chase Co. Chadron was ahead 7-1, but lost the game, 8-7.

The regular season is now over. The Cardinals record going into Districts is 19-12. The Class B District Tourney begins on Thursday in North Platte. Teams that will be there are McCook, Cozad, Gering, Scottsbluff, Alliance, and Chadron.
