Comfy Clothes, Karaoke, and Volleyball

Come on ladies sing it again!!! We arrived in Lincoln around 7pm on Thursday night. We stopped and ate at Arby’s and then went to our hotel. We were all amazed when we pulled up to the Embassy Suites! None of us had expected such a nice hotel. When we got there we all got our keys and our roommates and took all our bags to our rooms. After we ditched our bags we went to explore the hotel, we had until 9:30pm to be in our rooms and going to bed. We all laughed at each other because all of us were in our comfy road clothes and all the other people were in dresses, suits and tie’s. We felt really out of place. I’m sure that they all could tell that we were a bunch of hicks from the middle of nowhere. We all had our cameras out taking pictures of every little thing. We all felt like hicks that’s for sure! There were glass elevators, waterfalls, a bar and grill, and a ballroom, along with many other cool things. We were all in our rooms by 9:30pm and we were supposed to be in bed right after that but most of us didn’t go to bed until later.
The next morning we were all down at breakfast by 8:30am except for the coaches they were late because they said “beauty takes time.” They had a really good breakfast buffet with a little bit of everything in it. After we ate breakfast we all just hung out in our rooms and roamed around a little more and took even more pictures. We made it official that we were hicks then! When the time came we headed to our game. After our game we stayed and watched the next couple games. In between games we went to supper at Sonic. When we got back to the hotel most of us went to the pool and went swimming. The other girls all either went down and watched the people swimming or wandered around the hotel some more. That night we had to be in our rooms by 10:30pm. Mostly all of the girls were asleep by 1am.
The morning of the 13th we went to breakfast at 8am and then loaded all our things into the cars and walked 4 blocks to go watch the class A semi-final game. As soon as that game was over we all walked back to the hotel and loaded up into our cars and headed for the mall. We all split up and wandered around the mall. Mr. Dayhoff was following a bunch of us girls around and we went into Claire’s and he was taking pictures of us with funny hats and headbands on until the lady at the desk yelled at him and told him that he wasn’t allowed to do that. We all laughed and then left. After the mall we went to supper and then went to the class D1 semi-finals game. After that game we all loaded up in the cars again and headed for home.

Overall, our trip to Lincoln was a great one. Even though we lost our game we still had lots and lots of fun! The best thing was that not one of us girls got in trouble, but that sure didn’t stop Mr. Dayhoff.

Jr. High Hawks Split Victory with Crusaders

On September 10, 2009, the jr. high Lady Hawks faced the Lady Crusaders of St. Agnes. The game began at 4:30pm in the Lister-Sage building.

Normally at the jr. high level there are two matches labeled the “B” team and the “A” team. For Hay Springs the “B” team and the “A” team are comprised of the same ladies. Therefore, although two matches are played, the girls on the green and gold team are the same players for each match.

Against St. Agnes the “B” team won in two games with scores of 25-20 and 25-12. The “A” team unfortunately lost in 2 games. The scores here were 20-25 and 17-25. Jesse H. was the high scorer for both of the matches. We don’t have any other statistics-sorry!

The ladies next meet Crawford on September 17, in Hay Springs. Good luck jr. Hawks!

Baby Hawks

On Saturday September 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m in Edgemont, South Dakota the Baby Hawks and the Moguls battled it out in the third match of the Jr. High Tournament. The Moguls beat the Hawks 25-20 and 25-12. The top server was Jesse H. I am uncertain how many points she had and I am also unsure about any other stats from the games they played.

The next match was match five against Crawford. The Rams pulled out the win in the first game with a score of 25-12. In the second game the Baby Hawks prevailed with a win 25-23. But in the last game the Rams battled for the win with a score of 15-10. Again Jesse H. was the top server.
“The girls have really improved their ability and skills from the first game they played. They have showed tremendous improvement. They had many set ups in the two games,” said Coach Melanie Wiesler.
