While I am impressed with the generosity of the Junior and Senior classes at HSH, I agree with a few of the other comments about helping more locally. I work for an organization that helps needy families pay their electric bills and rent. I also run a food bank that is very, very low right now. Donations are hard to come by. If I had such generous and hard-working help like the students at HSH, our organization could help soooo many more people right here in Sheridan County. If anyone wants to take up this challenge for next year, give me a call Jennifer Wohl

I first read about the decision to donate your prom funds to Haiti on one of the Chadron news websites and immediately forwarded it on to many of my friends. I am so proud that you chose to use your hard-earned money for things like formula for hungry babies and medicine for people in pain rather than for streamers and balloons. Your gift will touch more lives than you could ever imagine. -although I do have to say that it made me a little embarrassed when I started crying at work, but it helped to know that there were also tears being shed in some of the cubicles around me!

We are parents of a Junior as a little girl her father and I taught her to share, to give hugs and kisses to the ones you love, to be kind to others and say "Please and Thank You" All the little things parents teach their kids to do. I never thought she would take these little things and turn them into something so BIG!!! Words cant say how proud I am of these Juniors and Seniors for voting YES to help others in need!! Don't ever second guess yourself for giving to someone in need. We truly have the up most respect for each and everyone of you who voted to give up your money to Haiti. Always keep this wonderful quality with you through out life!! Trevor and Shelli Cope

I am so proud that I have a great-nephew(Wacey) going to Hay Springs high, what a mature generous group of young people!!! Yes, Haiti if far away and there are people who need our assitance, but we are to care for our brothers and sisters in need, hopefully this will awaken all of us to help others, and we will donate time and money to those in our areas, remember all the world wide support we received in 9-11, it may not have been monatery but the emotional support we received from around the world, was awesome, these are some of the poorest there are, We have a daughter that has been in Haiti for almost a month helping and she talks about how grateful these people are. You parents in Hay Springs need to thank God daily of what wonderful, thoughtful young people you have raised!!!!
