This months student of the month for District #30 middle room is Drew Letcher. Drew is in the 3rd grade and he is the son of Lyndall and Karla Letcher. Miss Noonan says that Drew is a very hardworking, positive student who tries his best. Drew is willing to ask for help when needed and is the first to offer help to a classmate. He is a good leader and role model. Drew has maintained above average grades in all of his subject areas. Beyond daily school activities Drew is active in the community. He supports the Hay Springs Hawks by attending nearly all activities the school sponsors. He also attends youth church organizations, and is active in summer league sports.

The Awards Banquet was held on May 6th. There was a video from Girls State Basketball, a dinner, and awards for school and sports.
Play Day

This years Play Day was held at Mirage Flats at 9:00 a.m. Kids from Hay Springs High School, Mirage Flats, and Prairie Home. The activities included: Running, softball throw, baseball throw, soccer kick, high jump, discuss,and hoop shoot.

This weeks high school student of the week is Trenton K. Trent is the 15 year old son of Scott and Jolene K. He was born on September 4th and his siblings are: Stacy, Steph, Josh, and his twin Travis. His favorite class is Spanish and teacher is Mrs. Welch. Trents hobbies are playing sports, and hanging out with friends. His favorite actor is Johnny Depp, and his favorite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean Series. His favorite store is Scheels, and his favorite vacation is Terry Peak. After high school Trent plans on playing college basketball and baseball.

At 5:00 p.m. on May 8th 2008 Hay Springs High School held another year of a academic fair. Te academic fair this year consisted of slave auction, walking taco feed, water bottle rockets, car races and the showings of everyones projects throughout this year.

This weeks high school student of the week is Travis K. Travis is the 15 year old son of Scott and Jolene. He was born on September 4th and his siblings are: Stacy, Josh, Steph, and his twin Trent. His favorite class is science 9 and teacher is Ms. Keffeler. His hobbies are playing sports, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and chillin with his family. His favorite foods that his mom makes are lasagna and pizza. His favorite vacation was going to terry peak with his cousins, and his favorite band is Fort Minor. His favorite TV show is Sports Center, and his favorite movies are The Guardian, Shooter, Independance Day, and Bad Boys 2. After high school he plans on going to college and play basketball.

Congratulations to Ashton and Aria H. and Tanner L. for receiving the Nebraska School Activities Association Academic All-State Award. This NSAA award is a prestigious award that recognizes student activities participants for their academic prowess. To be considered for this award, a student must be considered a “difference maker” in an NSAA activity, contributing significantly to the school’s activities program. Honorees must attain at least a 3.7 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. This award is given out for each NSAA sanctioned activity, Ashton and Aria were nominated for their contributions during the track season, Tanner was nominated for his contribution during the golf season.
